Greater Pleasant Branch Missionary Baptist Church sanctuary moved from 1423 Ingram St. to 601 Spruce Street in Conway, Arkansas in November 11, 1989 located at in Conway, Arkansas. The property was purchased in 1987 for $55,000 from the Conway School District. The members of the Church started raising money to purchase the current property in 1984.
The building has a large sanctuary, a kitchen, two restrooms, a nursery, fellowship hall, four offices, pastor’s study, and three classrooms with 11,500 square feet.
The Pine Street School was renovated in early 1990’s and is now used for Sunday School, Wednesday night classes, business meetings, various programs and other functions used to accommodate organizations in the Conway community. The building also includes a large auditorium, a kitchen, and seven classrooms.
The renovation of the gymnasium was completed in early 1990’s and was also used for the congregation and the community. It is used for recreational activities, such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and workshops.
The present children’s choir was organized under Dr. Ralph E. Calhoun and adopted the name of Cleo Raynor Children’s Choir in honor of our pastor’s wife. Ministry presentations began on the 4th Sunday of January, 1995 and the first concert was presented the 4th Sunday in June, 1995. Faye Dunevant (conductor) and Jessie Cain(musician) served as coordinators. Charletha Harper, Sandra Kemp, and Tonia Patrick served as sponsors; Crystal Hogan served as Ministry Presenter. Children who were a part of this ministiy during this time: Patrisha Blackmore, Natasha Blackmore, Markisa Lasker, Tameka White,Aja Hogan, Gary McGee, Ralph Calhoun II, Kortni Calhoun, Kendall Kellybrew, Jordan Kellybrew, Raven Fuller, Darian Hill, David Bowser, Trevor Maltbia, Matthew Holbrook, Amber Maltbia, Raschad Morris, Kienna Thomas, Nia Smith, Brittany Patrick, Laquindria Brumfield, James Givan, Jasmine Brown, Danny Perkins, Jasmine Perkins, Jerell Perkins, Daniel Kemp, Demcha Kemp, Charnesha Harper, Chelsia Harper, Kara McGee, Dana McGee, Aja Hogan. Ms.Cain continues as the primary co-coordinator to date in 2004.
The Mass Choir became the J.R. Raynor Mass Choir in honor of our pastor in the late 1990s. Ralph Calhoun organized the Children’s Music Ministry and adopted the name Cleo Raynor Children’s Choir in honor of our pastor’s wife. Faye Dunevant and Jessie Cain were asked to coordinate this ministry. Mrs. Cain continues as the primary coordinator to the present(2004).
Members who served as president of the Mass-Choir from 1990 - 2000 were: Eleen Mackey, Helen Ticey, Angela McGee, James Hogan, Lynette Dunevant, and Jermaine Jones. Conductors were: Faye Dunevant, Corine Smith, Lloyd Hervey, Valeria Maltbia, and Ralph Calhoun.
